33 Films is a South African-based production company that was established by award-winning filmmakers; Shaun Naidoo and Brad Katzen.
Its simple goal is to help transform South African film into an international powerhouse, through the creation of exciting homegrown content and engaging stories that can be appreciated on the world stage.
With the perfect combination of Brad’s writing and directing talent and Shaun’s producing prowess, the company’s debut short film; The Beginning was a huge success - participating internationally at the Cannes Film Festival, the Mexico Shorts Film Festival, as well as the Florida Film Festival. Back home, it made waves at the Mzanzi Film Festival. 33 Films had another successful showing at the 2017 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA), where the company was awarded the grand prize in the ‘Best Made For TV Movie’ category for the movie The Stickup.
33 Films currently has a feature film in pre-production, as well as number of scripts in development. The company is also active in Television Commercial production with several short-form projects completed.

The Beginning is our debut short film produced by Shaun Naidoo, Tumisho Masha and Brad Katzen. The film, which was also written and directed by Brad Katzen, was selected to participate at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival in the short film corner.
The Stick Up is the second film offering from 33 Films. The film aired on Mzanzi Bioscope and in 2017, won a South African Film & Television Award (SAFTA) for ‘best made for TV movie.’
We had the privilege of producing this fresh approach to the much-needed road safety message. The commercial has been viewed over 1 million times on the clients YouTube channel.
We produced 3 short stories to help create awareness about the dangers of electricity theft, a problem that plagues South Africa’s utility provider, Eskom and causes huge disruptions to the electricity supply.
Shaun Naidoo is an award-winning South African Film & Commercial Producer and the founder of 33 Films. Shaun leads an incredible team of creative and production professionals working in film and advertising production.
Xolile Tshabalala is a talented actress and film director and a graduate of the New York Film Academy. She is passionate about telling stories in her own African perspective and as authentically as possible.
Brad Katzen is an auteur film director and screenwriter. Brad writes and directs his own film projects and is the creative force behind the stories produced by 33 Films.
Kay Ratsiane is the resident post-production producer at 33 Films. Kay has worked on several commercial projects that involved high-quality CG animation and graphics.
Thandeka Mpala is our production producer and is responsible for the complete operational execution of all our projects. Thandeka is solutions-driven and has a vast number of strong relationships with production crews and suppliers.
Nkululeko Ntimba is a talented audio engineer turned producer. He runs many commercial projects for our valued clients and executes all jobs with precision and efficiency.
Becoming Legacy is a youth-focused empowerment and motivational platform seeking to build strong focused young people that leave a powerful legacy. Shaun Naidoo talks to inspirational personalities about their 'Becoming' stories and also shares his own story to youth in schools, universities and conferences.
Becoming Legacy has been invited to Wits University, AFDA & Varsity College, among other universities and schools in South Africa.
